What is ASU's Blockchain Think Tank? The ASU Blockchain Think Tank is an initiative made possible by the 2021 Innovation Grant provided by The Center for the Study of Blockchain and Financial Technology at Morgan State University to provide awareness and exposure to blockchain, cryptocurrency and financial technology (FinTech). Students will participate in 10 virtual Think Tank sessions (a combination of live and discussion board) that include 8 educational awareness modules and collaboration with experts in the FinTech and blockchain fields.

How do I apply to be a participant in the Think Tank? Applications can be found at the https://forms.gle/gGrQmLPqe2nqSvRs9e. All applications must be submitted by August 6, 2021.

I'm in school, so what days will I have to commit to the project? Think Tankers must commit to participating in five (5) live virtual sessions that are held on Saturdays.  This means the Think Tank will not interfere in your weekday classes.

What if I don't have any experience with Blockchain and/or Financial Technology? No prior knowledge or experience with blockchain and/or financial technology (fintech) is required to participate in the Think Tank.

How will I access the Think Tank Modules?  Think Tankers selected to participate will receive access to the modules prior to the Orientation by email.  Please be sure when you apply, you are utilizing your ASU email account.  No other email address will  be utilized.  

Are there any benefits to participating in the Think Tank?  Yes.  There are several benefits for Think Tankers selected to participate in the project.  They include he following: (1) Explain what FinTech is and how it is transforming the world of finance; (2) Recognize and characterize the latest FinTech trends (Blockchain, AI, and Big Data); (3) Identify and describe the vital elements that drive technological innovation; (4) Demonstrate an understanding of topics and emerging business models in various areas of money and payments, alternative and digital finance, banking, insurance and wealth management, data and security, laws, and Fintech Regulation and Regulation Technology (RegTech). (5) Create blockchain and cryptocurrency models with utility and problem-solving capabilities; and (6) Analyze the socio-economic impact of blockchain and FinTech.

How will you select students to participate in the Think Tank? All majors, classifications (including graduate students) with or without prior knowledge of blockchain and financial technology (FinTech) are welcome to apply.  Participants must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher (unless you are a first-semester freshman with no GPA).  Applications will be reviewed, and 30 participants will be selected by an advisory committee  based on the following criteria:  Benefit to Student, Interest, and Overall Fit.

What is financial technology (FinTech)? FinTech (the word) is a combination of “financial technology” and describes new tech that seeks to improve and automate the delivery and use of financial services.

What are the student expectations? In order to be a Think Tanker, you must agree to the following: (1) Communicate via ASU email and check email frequently. (2) Attend and actively participate in all think tank sessions (Live/Virtual and Online Discussion Forum). (3) Complete all modules for their respective think tank session week. (4) Complete all pre-, post-project surveys and satisfaction polls. 

What will I receive for participating in this program? Think Tank Participants will receive the following upon completion: Polo shirt, ASU Coin Medal, Certificate of Completion, and Cryptocurrency Swag Bag.
